What is Subtraction?
Subtraction is like sharing or taking away!
When we subtract, we start with a number and take some away to find out how many are left. It's like when you share your cookies with a friend - you have fewer cookies left!
How to Subtract
1️⃣ Start with the bigger number (how many you have at first)
2️⃣ Take away the smaller number (how many you're removing)
3️⃣ Count what's left - that's your answer!
Let's Practice Together!

Parent Tips 🌟
- Use everyday objects like toys or snacks to demonstrate subtraction - "You had 5 crackers, you ate 2, how many are left?"
- Make it a game! Have your child "sell" you items and subtract as you "buy" them from their toy store.
- Use finger counting at first, then gradually encourage mental math as they gain confidence.
